Concept Mapping (mind mapping) and Graphic Organizers

A graphic organizer, such as a concept mapping tool, is one way for visual thinkers to arrange their ideas and organize information or brainstorm ideas. For some individuals, learning is facilitated through the action of making a visual connections and structuring the thought process. This is especially true of visual learners as the information is organized to support comprehension and learning.

A graphic organizer aids in the learning process, as an organized way of note-taking or, for some, a pattern of note-taking that corresponds to the way they organize their thoughts to support the learning process.
Alternately, a graphic organizer aids in the output of ideas to represent the content that has been learned. For those students that need a way to present what they know and what was learned, but are hampered by the act of taking notes, writing an essay, or taking a test, the use of a graphic organizer could be an alternative.
